Why it's important for your dog to have a designated safe space - The majority of us are fine with sharing our living room space with our pets sleeping on the couch. But if there are visitors then your dog is forced to leave the sofa and he doesn't have his own bed or a secure place to go to, you are invading his space because the couch serves as his home. Make sure the dog has a wonderfully cozy, private space in the house that he can go to when he needs to hide from something that gives him anxiety. No one should touch the dog in this space since it is his private, safe space.
